Trout Fishing Secrets

For more than 20 years, I've been chasing trout from Pennsylvania to Alaska and during that time, I've learned some wonderful trout fishing secrets that will help any angler catch more trout. I also had the pleasure of learning from a great trout fisherman, who was known throughout central Pennsylvania for being a great trout fisherman. From my trout fishing mentor and my own experience over the past 20 years, these trout fishing secrets were born.

There seem to be a lot of people and companies out there that want to sell you something that will supposedly help you catch more trout (and fish in general). I've seen many e-books and craczy devices for sale that will supposedly help you catch more fish, but in my experience much of this stuff is BS. There are few things that will help you become a better angler, like practice and study. There's simply no substitute for being on the water, and this is something worth keeping in mind as you encounter some of these products making almost insane claims.

On the other hand, there are products out there that will help you to catch more fish, because they enable you to do something better than could previously be done. These types of products make sense, because they bring value to the marketplace, rather than simply making claims and promises. In any case the trout fishing secrets revealed here will definitely bring value to your trout fishing experience. How am I so sure of this? Simple. Because I've personally been employing them for many years and know that they work.

  • Use Ultra Light Equipment - When trout fishing, the first trout fishing secret is to use ultra light equipment. When I say equipment, I'm referring to your rod, reel, and line. For the most part, trout are fished for and caught out of cold clear water, and in this type of water your fishing line and/or bait/hooks are very visible to the fish. This is why using very light fishing line is so important. And light fishing line performs much better when spooled on ultra light rods and reels. When I refer to 'light fishing line', I'm referring to six pound test at the heaviest. I personally prefer four pound test, but six pound is passable. The bottom line is that the first trout fishing secret is to use ultra light equipment.

  • Eliminate Unnatural Scents - The elimination of unnatural scents from your hands is a trout fishing secret. Any unnatural scents that are on your hand will transfer to any bait that you're using and will cost you bites. Trout have a very sensitive sense of small and when they detect something unnatural, they shy away. A great trout fishing secret is to rub your hand in a clump of grass or dirt before baiting up. This will help eliminate any unnatural scents on your hands that could transfer to your bait.

  • Pay Attention To The Weather/Moon - There arte no two factors that effect fishing/trout fishing like the weather & moon. It sounds crazy but it's true. One of the biggest trout fishing secrets is to be fishing when the trout are the most active. This is accomplished by knowing when the Weather and Moon are in your favor. This secret costs nothing other than a little time to do some research, and will have a huge impact on your catch rates.

  • Use Gang Hooks - What are gang hooks? Gang hooks are simply a pair of small hooks tied in tandem that allow live bait (especially live worms) in a totally natural and realistic manner. This trout fishing secret results in more bites simply because you offering looks so natural. A live worm rigged on a set of pre-tied gang hooks and allowed to drift naturally with the current of a river or stream is difficult to beat as far as trout fishing is concerned.

These trout fishing secrets will help you catch more trout, it's as simple as that. You can begin employing these simple tips on your next trout fishing trip, and see if I'm right. You'll be glad you did, I promise you. I know these trout fishing secrets work because I use them all.
